The Sweetest Summer Festival- Barbados Crop Over Festival (known by some as the Barbados Carnival is a historic Festival dating back all the way to the Plantation era of the 1600s as a celebration of the then enslaved African Population on the island rejoicing at the end of the annual grueling Sugar Cane Harvest - the then chief export of the island to Europe- Cane Sugar, Molasses and Rum.
Though the festivities begin as early as May, the festival officially starts on July 1st and climaxes with Grand Kadooment on August 7th.
During this time, the island comes alive with various types of parties, concerts, limes, heritage events and so much more. There are festivities for everyone to enjoy as the options feel endless.
